Rosslyn Chapel, properly named the Collegiate Church of St Matthew
Rosslyn Chapel, properly named the Collegiate Church of St Matthew, was founded on a small hill above Roslin Glen as a Roman Catholic collegiate church (with between 4 and 6 ordained canons and two boy choristers) in the mid-15th century. Rosslyn Chapel and the nearby Roslin Castle are located at the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland.
About 150 years after the Knights Templar was disbanded, the gorgeous Rosslyn Chapel was built in Scotland. Patterned after Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem.....

It was built by a Scottish noble and Lord Chancellor of Scotland named William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness. Caithness is the northernmost county in Scotland which is known for its beauteously rugged terrain; the county from which this Protestant Laird claims his own title.
